Getting Closer

Well, we are finally here!  In Ft Worth, that is (staying with mom and dad for the time being).  Moved from St Louis earlier this week and have hit the ground running, trying to get this clinic opened up!  There is a lot to do, but we are looking at having the permit from the city the week of the 15th (probably at the end of that week).

The construction is at the taping and bedding phase.  They will start painting soon, then the floors, then the final coats of paint.  So we should be getting some nice pictures soon.  The following pics were taken with my iPhone.  Enjoy!

A few more drywall pics

I should have some more pictures to post soon, but in the mean time here are a few with a little more detail, still from the dryall phase.

Slow Week

Well, I'm sure stuff is going on with the build out, but not being there really puts a damper on being able to report on it.  The contractor said he'd send us some pictures "next week", so let's hope he remembers.

Pictures!!!

Big thanks to my dad and mom for driving out to the building and taking pictures.  Hooray for mom and dad!  Especially because they captured what it looked like before the walls went up.  Yes, "looked" like.  The walls are already going up (according to the contractor).

Looking West
The square footage is about 2434.  The view above is actually taken from within another suite.  Our suite ends just before the third pole on the left.

West straight ahead, North to the right

The little round window will be in the "patient" rest room.

Reception
Here is the scoring of the floor where our rounded reception desk will be.  Just to give you some scale, the distance from the wall with the metal studs to the edge of the reception desk is about 12', the reception area from where the curve starts (furthest from you) to the curve at the left side of the picture is 11.5'.  The angles in the pictures are deceptive.

Little round window is in the lounge

Here's another view of the reception and waiting room.  Once again, the pole closest to you is in the adjacent suite.  Our back wall is the score in the floor just by the third pole.

One last shot (for now) from the back of the clinic.  Right down the middle is the hallway in the staff area.  From the far wall on the right you are seeing the lounge, staff office, my office, then Jan's office. You are standing Jan's office looking at her door.  To the left of the hallway from the metal studs is an exam room, hallway, staff rest room, and the tip of the other exam room.

More later!

Permits Are In!

The City of Plano has issued our permits, so the work can begin to finish the interior of the clinic!

My parents were kind enough to drive out to the building and take some pictures, so when we can figure out how to get those to me I will post them!

Colors and tiles and walls, oh my!

We had an extremely productive (and fun) meeting with our interior designer, Lisa, on Tuesday.  We picked out a few different color schemes for the flooring, changed the ideas on the patterns, and finished it all off with selections on the colors for the walls.  All in all I am very confident that it is going to look GREAT!  We should get some "3D" drawings soon.

We are still waiting on the permits from the city.  Super lucky will be if they show up this coming week.

I spent about 8 hours (or more because I ended up dreaming about it as well) figuring out the "computer network" cabling for the clinic.  I'm glad I did that now because it made me really think about what is going to go where and what needs to get purchased ahead of time.  I'm sure they'll be some things that we forget and have to scramble to buy at the last minute, but hopefully that will be a rare event!  Anyway, we need to hire a company to do the wiring.

Yowza

Things are getting really crazy.  We had been waiting for the final draft of the floor plan to get emailed to us, only to find out it's already been submitted to the city!  Ooooooo-K.  The changes weren't in any way major, an extra outlet here, an extra light switch there, add a ceiling light here and here..., so I guess it's no big deal.  So if the city is not too busy and has no problems with the plans we could get approved in just a few weeks, or it could take as long as a full month depending on their work load and "issues".

We have also picked and signed up for an EMR (electronic medical record) that is "cloud" based.  I remember back in the good ol' days when it was called "the internet".  Anyway, we are excited about that because we can actually use their scheduling tools to, you know, schedule patients!  Extra bonus, they are giving us a free iPad for signing up.  No, you can't have it.

We also have received our first batch of business cards (with our new clinic phone numbers), our "business" sized checks (in a big fake leather binder), and Jan's first clinic lab coat (it's blue).

Exciting stuff!  More later.

Initial Design

We received the first draft of the floor plans (electrical, flooring, plumbing, etc.,) this evening and we only had a few changes and comments.  I would think that they could incorporate the changes in just a few hours, so we could have the final plans approved on Friday the 12th or possibly Monday the 15th at the latest!

Very exciting!

Update 9/17/14:  Well, I completely underestimated the time it would take to make the changes.  I guess they have other customers besides us!  :)

Signed!

We have a signed lease for our clinic space!  It was a rough go of it for a while, but we finally came to an agreement.

on the second story
Our soon-to-be clinic

We have the corner (facing you) on the second story, from the little round window on the left side to the little round window on the right side.  It's about 2,584 sf.

Now comes the "build out" of the interior, that is, after the design is finalized and the permits from the city come in.

Very Close

We have finally come to a verbal agreement on the clause in the lease that was holding us up.  After the legalese is hammered out, we will sign (hopefully on Monday) and get the proverbial ball rolling!

Starting Up

With this blog I hope to chronicle the creation of 1 CP Place.  Hopefully some good pictures will be posted, although I cannot guarantee that since we're a few miles away from the site.  But at least the progress and status of the clinic should be captured in words.

This is something that both of us know is what we were meant to do.  Still, all of your prayers and good thoughts are very much appreciated.
